A Brisk Night For The Moon and Saturn

Tonight was a beautifully clear night, very brisk but not too cold. The air was much more still than the previous night I was out with the telescope.

I decided to try the 3x barlow and 5x barlow on Saturn to see which would yield better results. Tonight the 3x barlow was better.

Saturn 3X Barlow

Saturn sharpened up really nice with stacking. The Cassini gap was slightly visible, which is getting difficult as the rings are approaching edge-on to Earth.

Saturn 5X Barlow

The 5x barlow isn’t a bad image, but it’s just a bit hazier. No gap visible.

The moon was close to Saturn tonight, so I figured why not get a few shots. Some of my shots had issues stacking, but this one turned out nice. I love seeing the shadows on the lunar mountains.
